Bose System too Bass'ey?

Does anyone else think the Bose system is too bass heavy.

It seems like I am always adjusting the bass down to -2 just so I don't rattle my brain.

Anyone?

I find that it depends on the mastering qualities of the source CD.

Some CDs I find do not have enough bass even when set to max.

Volume affects it somewhat - at lower listening levels I tend to increase the bass.....

Maybe it's just my ears....

Yet another reason to upgrade to a complete aftermarket setup Just as with home audio, you get what you pay for (compare the sticker price of the bose system to what you could do for a comparable amount of cash in the aftermarket) Assuming the cd you are listening to is ok, a quality set of cabin speakers from focal or mbquart and a small sub installed with quality cable will always sound better than an OEM system.

Press the button to change the audio settings. After bass, treble, balance, fade, etc, there should be an option marked LD (LOUD). Disabling it should solve all your problems.

that's what i do. kill the "loudness" setting. makes it tolerable. i'm a big bass fan, but the bose just sounds like crap when the heavy bass kicks in.

To me...all I was able to get is lots of midrange out of my Bose...and the bass it did provide from that lame box in the rear...was distorted. I ripped it all out and went after market...it's the way to go. Bose may make great home systems, but their in car stuff is just not worth the money.

I've got a 2002 911 and I agree. The Bose system has got too much bass.

Adjust your fade two notches towards the front. This allows a decent bass setting, but the bass isn't as intense and the mids/highs are more clearly heard. I keep my bass at +2 or +3 (sometimes lower) and the treble at +7. Hope this helps.

I agree - I think the stereo system in Porsches are terrible. The bass is annoying and there's no way to minimize it.
