What's this worth?
I am interested in this car, low miles and a unique color combo but it looks like its priced too high and I wanted your opinions.

Interesting color indeed. What is it worth to you? I would think with the appropriate service documentation and history that this would be in the low thirties. This will be affected by any upgrades, suspension, shifter etc. You sure would stand out in a crowd with that scheme.
Wow, that's quite a color. Yes it's priced way too high. It is nicely optioned, there is no question of that. However, a special color like that takes a special person to appreciate. Especially since the color is not just on the body, but also on some interior pieces and the wheels. I would say that the color overall will decrease the value of the car significantly.
It's just like trying to sell a house. They always tell you to paint the house neutral colors so that it will show better and sell easier. Wild paint colors will detract from the value of a home. But a house is relatively easy to repaint. You can do it yourself! Not so true with cars. Here there's a LOT that would need to be repainted at a significant cost. So the value depreciates significantly.
The owner of this car seems to be more focused on finding someone who will appreciate the car's color so that it adds value, rather than detracting from it. At least that's the way they have it priced.

Seeing that I know of a certain low 20somethingk mile 99 Silver Cab that just sold for $32.5k w/o any problem, I don't think the price is too high.
Not everyone is stuck in the how low can I pay for it mode thankgod, although a lot of owners on here including me pride themselves on how little they did pay for a used 996. A fire sale will get you, the buyer the lowest cost but owners that are patient and have a excellent car will get the higher price
Question is this? How bad do you want one? Are you willing to pay a premium for a low mileage excellent example that has all service records and zero issues?
These are the buyers that I am looking for.

Thanks guys for the input. I agree it is a unique color and well optioned, I am just trying to get a feel for what it would be worth. Wholesale puts it in the high 20's but as many of you mentioned it is a rare car and color which may add addtional value to the right buyer.
I am going to pull the trigger on a p-car in the next few months so I am keeping my options open.
This one happens to be local so I'll have to go and check it out. Too bad the green doesnt have less of a pearl tone. From the pictures it almost looks like the same green offered in the VW beetle and gti during the same years.

At first glance any Porsche descecrated in non-Porsche livery suggests "accident history" and perhaps "salvage title". It certainly looks like duPont's "Cyber Green" used on VW Beetles. Not sure why someone would do that to a perfectly good Porsche unless it was intended as some ironic twist on the shared VW Beetle/911 pedigree.

The ad says it was a custom color from Porsche I think. Porsche will paint any of their cars any color you wish if you are willing to pay for it.
Yoops, I agree that although most people these days are in extreme bargain hunting mode, but this car isn't normal. The color is so bizarre it will need to attract the perfect buyer, and if that buyer was me I'd assume nobody else wanted it and would low ball even if I was madly in love with it. That's the trade off of owning a weird color. Very few people would want it themselves. But whoever does get it will be getting what looks like a nice car with a quirk.

+1 on that one weird colour alright, plenty of P cars out there right now for good prices with conventional colour schemes, think of resale values etc, I would lowball too if the colour does it for you and you want a keeper, what's the worst that can happen? just my 0.02cents
Do you know if this is a one owner car? If so ask to have a copy of the orignal window sticker faxed to you. That should tell you if it was an ordered special color. Remember you may like the color now but when it comes to move on to the next car the green might be a deal breaker for others. Good luck I too am looking for a clean 996
I too am looking to by a Porsche in the near future. As my mental records provide that is at least $8k-$10k higher than the market in s. Texas. I will second what you already know, "If you buy that car you are married to it".
All the body and suspension mods take away any of the value of a low mileage car in my opinion. Might be it is undriveable after all those mods and that is why it is low mileage? I bet they had a good laugh at the factory when that color rolled out the door.
Hey guys I looked at the car this weekend. The car was super clean, well cared for and they were the original owners.
The color wasn't too appealing, all I could think about was a VW Bug so needless to say I am going to pass

Call me crazy, but I like the color! So what if VW also uses it? Lamborghini has a similar color as well. Here's another paint to sample: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
