Hello guys, I think that my clutch is going out on my 2002 996 C4S, and I wanted to know if anyone knows how much it should cost to get it replaced? I went to my dealership here in San Antonio and they said that if I buy my own parts they couldn't put it in because they couldn't give me a warrenty for it. Any help would be great. Thanks alot.

Whole job (parts and labor) should cost around $2,500...

 

clutch parts price are in the 800-1600$ range depending on where and about 10hrs labor at whatever the shop charges. and dont go to the dealer unless u want to pay 5k for the clutch. i know there are competant shops in germany to work on this car

 

If you don't need a new flywheel you can get a clutch kit which includes pressure plate, clutch disk, thorwout bearing, etc. for about $500, sometimes cheaper. labor shoud be 6-8 hrs. A good mechanic will do it quicker than that. If yu want a waranty you might pay more for this kit than sourcing it yourself. If you pay more than $1,500 you are getting ripped off (excluding a flywheel which adds about another $600-$800 and 1/2 hr. labor).

Pressure Plate - 999754 HD (240MM) $465.00
Organic Disc - 999957 (240MM) $497

If you are going to replace it I would definitely do this upgrade.
