Lightbulb Tip on cleaning HRE rims

I washed my car this morning... after that I got stuck in cleaning the new wheels...

I found that using Windex (the stuff u clean windows with) actually works very well on the chrome... virtually no water stain and best of all, it give it the "bling bling" shine...

anyone has any other good methods?

A real pain in the a$$ I spent 1 hour polishing just 2 wheels yesterday until my finger almost fell off from all the rubbing. Is it worth it to have full polished???

Well I found a few squirts of windex onto a paper towel and then simply wipe the chrome lip will virtually take away all the dirt and water mark...

When I had my polished 840Rs, I used a couple jugs of distilled water on my wheels after I washed the car. It helped get rid of the hard water. The wheels shined with litte effort.

Hard water leaves spots and haze.

Another option is to install a water softener in your house. Cullagen has a pretty good water softener unit for the house. It uses resin beads to soften the water. The two (water softener and distilled water) together made cleaning pretty easy.

I used a little bit of zaino on the wheels too.

good luck.

For polished wheels, try Meguiairs NXT All metal Polish. Its very easy to use (well alot easier than almost any other polish), and leaves a very nice deep shine, and also a protective layer on the wheel. Apply with a sponge applicator, and wipe with one yellow flannel cloth and then buff with another. For a showcar look figure about 25 min a wheel (thats polishing between rivets and all)

For chrome, Meguiairs Quick Detailer is a nice cleaner!

Mother's Incredible Billet Aluminum polish is still the best product I have found for the rims. It takes some elbow grease, but it gives good results.

Gentlemen,

Your question has been answered.

http://www.keysan.com/big/piczclo5560.html

This stuff rocks! I've been using in on my wheels for the last few months and on the HRE's for the last few weeks. Just spray it on and use a microfiber towel to wipe off the dirt. No scrubbing! Just spray it on "generously" and wipe it down. Simply put, "amazing"!!

Larry,

I know that is sounds "crazy" but this stuff is magic! It's non-abrasive and is design to clean "oil off of metal"! It's also much cheaper than the wheel cleaners out there ounce for ounce! I'll bring some next time and we can compare how much quicker and nicer it looks with the purple 409 than "your" cleaner!

Let me know when you want to do the 409 challenge!!!
