How modded is too modded when searching...?

In my ongoing search for a C4S, I usually look for something thats lightly modded ( rims, suspensions, exhaust) as it would save me $ in the long run.

I will track the car occasionally and will be a 2nd weekend car and to work once in a while.

I found one car that is pretty heavily modded. Owner took care of it but what gets me is it "might" just have to much...Custom exhuast, coilovers, short shift, brembos all around F&R...all this is great..and the car has been tracked previously.

Add in an ECU flash and headers as well. I mod all my cars but jumping into one like this makes me think. Although the owner took care of it, didnt have all the details in the mods which kinda had me thinking...

For those that want a non-stock car where does one draw the line in whats overboard for them/and what other factors?

thanks

everyones different, if it has the mods you want then get it

there is no relation between the number of mods and the level of care that has been given to the car, you can find cars with lots of mods that have been beaten to hell and you can also find cars with no mods that have treated the same way

do your research and read a lot on this board and figure out what you are looking for, only you can decide whats right for you

take a look at the for sale section, i would rather buy from a member here as there is a very good chance he/she has taken very good care of it

good luck

i think if you find car with mods you would do the same way then go ahead and start negotiate.I think everybody loosing at least 50% of investment in mods when they sell the car...I was thinking of bone stock and get one,but end up spend almost the same amount of purchase price on mods and now i know that those investment never return.:-)

I think the standard mods, wheels, exhaust, SSK and suspension are pretty common with most P-car owners. When you look at the car, look past the upgrades and check the car closely. Is the paint original, original owner, interior clean?..............care and maintanence of the overall car comes first IMHO.

From my experience trying to sell my own car, even just adding a few things makes it hard for resale as everyone's preferences differ and people want to know a specific method used for the mod. .... best choice is to buy stock and slowly mod. it from there the way you want .

This specific car has been taken care of well although driven hard. Owner is a PCA member as well. I came from a few heavily modded cars and have had issues here and there over the years.

I'm not familiar with the ECU flash in the 996 so it kinda got me thinking. Exhaust/headers mod could cause probs in the future for smog, but not a deal killer.

If you like the car and the mods this should not cause any worries. In the unlikely case of the car failing a test in the future, second hand OEM parts can be aquired at low cost.
