anyone replaced their alternator lately??

considering 3 alternator units for my 99 c4, all remanufactured.
bosch
autoline
hi test

wanted to go with the bosch at $350 but the other 2 are practically free after the core exchange of the old unit.

all seem to be direct fit, any thoughts or experience here?
im leaning toward one of the cheaper ones.

thanks for the help guys.

well then just get the Cheap one... I mean if it does Fail after a Year, you can get another one for Free Again while giving in the failed one as a Core, correct?

I come from the school of fixing it right the first time. I don't like to do labor twice just to save a few bucks. That's why when I replaced the water pump, I went OEM for $200 instead of generic for $150!

yea, i am the same way but the difference is over $300 and i think even the cheap one will be better than the stock part. how much better could the Bosch alternator be? same amps and everything, little bit better warranty. am i missing something here?

Does your alternator have the Free Wheel Lock pully? Manual or automatic transmission?

Have you considered having it rebuilt? My options in Canada were limited and expensive (~$600). A local autoshop rebuilt it for $180 and it has worked like a charm for 2 years so far.

Purchasing a new OEM unit was not an option for me. So, I chose to have mine rebuilt locally (about $160, not including R&R).

i can buy a rebuilt one and after returning the original core it will cost me about $20. the only thing i am not sure about is whether or not to buy the bosch remanufactured alternator which costs over $300 more.
