Time for New Tires AGAIN!

Man,

I am getting tired of spending $800.00 for a pair of tires. It seems like every six months, tires wear down! What type of tires are you all buying for your 911? I have bought Michelins pilots and Good Year eagle F1s. Is there a better alternative?

You may want to look into the Hankook Ventus K110 V12 Evos. I just purchased a set (19" Front & Rears) for my C4S for about $750. Initial feedback is pretty good - they've been really good so far in both dry and wet conditions. Others have good feedback on the Sumitomo HTR ZIII's - you may want to check on those too!

Cool

I'm going to take a hard look at the Sumitomo HTRZ3's next time.

Seems like a good street tire for the money and they are getting good reviews.

That is not too bad.

I usually cook my rears in around 8 - 10K with hard driving and mountain excursions.

I had the same problem and just replaced my Bridgestones with the Sumitomo's from Tire Rack. I drove them at the Barber Motorsport Park at a DE three weekends ago and they performed really well. They wear much better than the Bridgestones, the traction is better, and I think they are the best tire for the money.

I'm running those and am very happy!! they are still pretty new, but so far offer more grip then the Pzeros and S03's, but may be a touch louder, hope things stay this way as I only have about 4-5000miles on them.

look into to safe-guard warranty, (safe-guardproducts.com) sold through Porsche dealers $700 for 5 yrs.

if your tire is > 3/32 and it picks up a nail, and goodness knows, a lot of nails find their way off our work bench, then both tires HAVE TO BE replaced with new ones as per Porsche regulations. it seems if one tire is under 3/32 then the imbalance between it and the new is verbotten. And, for porsches, regs indicate that NO patches are allowed. Don't forget, these cars are built for track driving at 150+ mph and at high tire temps, so patches are not allowed, in any tire. and if both front and rear are under 3/32, then all 4 HAVE to be replaced as per PCNA regs.

i have not yet bought the warranty; rather i have bought a second set of wheels and used PS2's.

i will buy it in the fall when i replace my summer tires with winter ones. The probablity that a nail may come off my work bench next spring seems to be high.

you guys got me thinking...will consider the Sumi's this Spring! Those PS2's are amazing, but I'm definitely not tracking the car so can probably roll on some price point rubber.

Question - the Hankook Ventus is known to have softer sidewalls for ride comfort. How does it perform with the rear engine sitting over tires?

I ask b/c OEM Porsche N rated tires are known to have really stiff sidewalls due to the rear engine design.

I'm thinking of purchasing the same set....
