Porsche 996 service manual ? where can I find one

I am looking for a Porsche 996 service manual.

I mean something with graphics to show steps to maintain or replace items on the car.

Is there any online ?

right now I am about to replace the cowl panel and I wonder if there are special steps I should follow. FYI the cowl panel is the piece of plastic that sit behind the windshield wiper blade. Mine is in good condition but the plastic color faded badly and it only cost $45 a suncoast so I decided to order one.

I ordered "Porsche 996 The Essential Companion" by Adrian Streather. 656 pages of everything you ever wanted to know or do to a 996! It's like a Chilton's manual on steroids!!

Hello there! I'm the sales & marketing manager for Bentley Publishers. Figured I'd quit being a lurker and resurrect this thread to say that we've just published our 996 repair manual.

If anyone has any questions about the manual (what's in it, what's not in it, etc.), feel free to post them here and I can check in with our editors and answer them here.

That's awesome! I used Bentley on all my VWs so I'll definitely need to place an order for my 996. Good stuff!

Maurice, does the Bentley Service Manual cover the turbo engine? I have a 2004 twin turbo 996. From the looks of the description it does not cover the turbo version (M96.70 engine). If the service manual does not cover it, do you know if there are any intentions to develop an addendum for the turbo?

They are readily available online. Just Google "Bentley service manual Porsche 996" and you will get several choices. Amazon is one source, but there are several others as well.
