Do you think my car is "wacky"? (PICS)
Today I went over to my local Porsche dealership for service on my car. Dropped it off this morning (4/6/10) around 9:30 am. Received a call about an hour later saying the car's ready. Come back a few hours later to pick up the car. As I was waiting for them to drop off my car near the main entrance, I started to look at the new '10 P-cars. All I can say is, beautiful, just beautiful. Especially that $146,858 '10 GT3.
Anywho, one of their sales representatives (about a 50+ yr old gentleman) asked me if I needed help with anything. I responded, "No, I'm just browsing." About ten minutes had passed and I'm still waiting for my car to be brought up to the main entrance. The same salesman comes up to me and asks me the same thing, but in different context. I answer, "No, I'm just waiting for my car to be brought up." He then says, "I think that black "wacky thing" up front is your car." I didn't want to be rude and ask him why he thought it was "wacky", so I just said that the car is modded and that I liked it that way. It's still beautiful to me with or without mods. He then said that it's still a nice car.
What do you guys think about my car? Is it wacky?

It looks like you might be talking ruznak westlake...
I have done business with them. I would be interested in knowing which salesman you are talking about. I have my guess, but will hold off.
They do have a tendency to be a little condescending. Comments always route towards buying the next car from them. You just buy a car and they immediately start flapping upgrade. As soon as I bought my used 2005, I started hearing about how much better the 2010 is. Didn't hear puff about that when they were looking to close the deal on the 2005.
I think part of the problem might be that the salesmen are working hard to make a living. They probably don't have the option to throw money at a car like all the P-car buyers do. They probably also see some serious d-bags come in and act like total asses. End result...they keep their self respect by being elitist about the cars. Mods bad. Older/imperfect bad. Not the latest/greatest bad. Since they don't own...they don't understand the connection people have to their cars.
Not intended as an excuse...more of a theory to explain the behavior. It seems to beg an explanation as it is clearly not the best behavior to sell cars...

Thanks for the input Mike.
Your car looks great and nothing wacky about it. The dealership folks almost universally in my experience are very pretentious. Walk in wearing sweats and they treat you like a leper but come in wearing an expensive suit and they lick your feet. The way I dress sometimes they would think me homeless.
When compared to a real 996 turbo your car does seem out of sorts - ie wheels are wrong model year and all the turbo get up on a NA car can make it seem wacky when compared to the real thing. So, I can see what he was talking about but he should have been more respectful of your mods seeing as you like the car. I'm not sure if I'd do all that to my NA car although I do love the OEM turbo front bumper.
Nice car!
In my opinion, there's people who sale P-cars and there's People who own P-car's. Most sales people at the dealership can't buy one, however there surrounded by P-cars all day and think that anything that's not the latest or greatest is wacky. Haven said that, I love how you have your car set up, I'm working on setting mine up very similar to yours. Nice ride!
I think your orange tail lights are wacky! A set of LEDs will do a lot to update the rear.
Other than that, the car looks great. And though I dont love your wheels, I like deep dish wheels even less.
