How much does a gallon of gas weigh?

Have stock 99 996 and it "feels" much faster when the gas tank is half full and "feels" slowwwww with the full tank of gas..

Can some let me know how much fuel 99 996 holds and how much a gallon of gas weighs?

Maybe I can throw out something that equals the weight of half of tank of gas to get that fast "feeling."

gas weighs around 6lbs, there are some variables and your 99 holds around 16.5 gallons, but you can look the exact amount up.

Thank you!
So (16.5/2)*6 ~ 49.5.
All I need to do is remove/throw away 50lbs from my car to get that fast "feeling."
Wait a minute, thats a lot...

just chuck the passenger seat and you're done!

Of course when you're at half a tank again you'll be 100lbs lighter than you were before you shed the 50lbs. I can see where this might get more difficult.

Go on a diet, work out, take a dump before you get in your car and wear light shoes and no heavy watches/jewelry. If your chick's fat, tell her to go on a diet too.

Us non-turbo 3.4 peeps need all the advantage we can get. lol

Isn't that what the Recaro's are for, to keep the fat chicks out?

Oh crap! I am sure that I just offended someone again.

Bad Ponyboy!

I drive with half a tank to 3/4 full. I removed my spare tire with jack and did the rear seat delete all back seats removed just padding. About 85lbs removed right there

Thank you all for great suggestions!
I've been meaning to remove my spare tire but someone warned me here that it was part of a barrier to protect me from a collision.
Going on diet myself and only filling up half tank full.

Nonsense Deskjob screw the barrier. Porsche thought of everything when they built these 996's their hand built. Front airbags, side airbags, the works very safe. That is what insurance is for. GL

Keep the seat, but loose the mufflers...the pair are about 40lbs... and get cool [and loud] sounds, too.

Do you use the back seats? I've seen guys remove those in order to save some weight.
