Exhaust removal (First time)

Hey everyone, I am removing my mufflers to send them out to FD Motorsports for the PSE Mod and have gotten the bumper and heat shields out, the muffler band clamps that go from the cat to the muffler, but I cannot get the bolts from the brackets removed. I know that once I remove them I will want to install them on upside down for future mods... but I don't have enough room to get them out from the top! Any suggestions???

Thanks!

you need to remove the brackets themselves with the muffler in one unit. Those brackets hold with 3 bolts..

you didn't need to remove the bumper and heat shields...loosen the cat/muffler pipe clamp (two 13mm nuts) and slide the clamp toward the muffler....there are three 13 mm nuts on the engine side of the muffler bracket...you can reach up in there and remove them with a small wrench or baby flexible ratchet and the muffler and bracket and tip assembly comes out as one piece...easier with the rear wheel removed....as you slide it forward it will clear the bottom of the rear fender

This is how I always did it: (1) take off wheel. (2) remove 3 bolts. (3) take muffler off.

The bolts you need to remove are #16 in the diagram below. After you get the mufflers out, you can swap the bolts you were trying to get at.
