Driver Seat Removal
Driver Seat Removal
I have taken all the bolts out that hold the driver's seat in place and two other electrical connections connected to the driver's seat but cannot figure out how to take out the 4 pronged black part indicated by the arrows. Any ideas?
Trying to remember this from when I did this and from my service manual. There is one main harness connector for the electric seat and I don't think that is it. Do you have to disconnect that harness or is it internal to the seat itself.
Thanks davebho. I looked at that and it does not address the third elusive connector. I have fiddled with it and can only spend a few minutes at a time diddling with it as I get close to just ripping it outta there. - calm, calm, calm... lol
Well......I just went down and looked at my stock seat and the connector is gone......so it must not be too hard.
I also found these instructions....
"if you are changing your seat and have memory functions in your car then please note you will have the black unit shown in the pics under your drivers chair. this is the memory brain unit and needs to be removed along with the seat in addition to the regular electrical connector shown in the DIY which contains the seat belt plug. doing this is a straightforward as removing two connectors however once removed all memory options on your car will no longer function. this includes the mirrors however normal mirror operation is unaffected. they still can be moved, the just dont respond to the buttons.
the connectors that need to be popped out are attached to the loom running from the floor and are easy to get to and identify. one is blue/white and is removed simply by depressing a security hook and pulling out. the other is white and has a locking mechanism across it which needs to be pryed up. its black and runs across the middle of the connector. just lever with a screwdriver and when its fully out the connector will just slide out. if it doesnt come easy, check the lock is all the way out. i thought i had mine done but then realised theres a bit extra at the end of the travel as a safety.
once these are off you can just secure the loom and connectors to the floor and proceed with the rest of the DIY as shown by mike. "

In the picture, the 4 pronged black part is in the "up" position. You do not have to take it apart from the white plug, I don't think you can. Just pull the white plug up now. Wiggle it and it will come off. The black 4 pronged black part, secures the white plug in place when down. But it does not come off the white part, it is like a lock (you have it unlocked in the pic).
