I have tried almost every gas station in town. Something is not right and it's driving me crazy. Is it time to sell the car?
While pumping gas, around $20.00 or 25.00 the gas pump stops. I take it out, stick it back into the car, it goes for another $2.00 , then stops. Is it something i am doing wrong?

Do i need a new gas tank? puzzled.

No you don't. It happens when you run it till there's nothing but fumes left. Just stick a fat straw in and suck out the fume. Exhale and breath in between the sucks so you don't pass out. About 13 times should be enough. Once per gallon of fume.

 

No for once you are doing nothing wrong. Remember the engine is in the back so the tank is in the front so there is not much of a filler neck and the shape is such that when the pump shuts off you should not try to overfill or you will have "premature" gas spitting. If you can't fill the tank up and it shuts off at 1/4 or 1/2 a tank then you need to check your fuses. On boxsters, I know there is a fuse that can cause this problem and the 996 should the same setup.

It's just a fuse? So there is a live sensor inside the tank that's always on?
