the cost of the x50 back in 2003 was $17.5k if I am not mistaken. I'll be honest, this car worries me a bit. $44k for an 03 x50 is WAY below market value. Not only would I have a PPI performed on this one, but I would move onto the full CPO checklist due to the red flag cost. Keep us up to date on your purchase if you go after this one...I am anxious to hear how it works out (I might have my broker run the VIN just for fun).
The Houston market for 996's and 997's is very competitive.
There are tons of 996's and 997's for sale here and it tends to drive down prices. They often can be purchased here for waaaay less than retail. I recently bought a clean, low mileage, heavily optioned Speed Yellow 2004 Carrera for less than trade-in value.

I'm not trying to flame you or cause a problem, buy please show me one other comparably price 03 x50 for that amount. I looked across the entire US and had a broker for over a year and not once saw an x50 even close to this amount. If they are going this cheap I might just buy another one.
2002 X50 on evilbay now @ $42900:

yeah my broker looked at that one and there was something "Wrong" with it...wasn't that big of a deal, but he said to pass. I am sure it was relatively minor, but he and I are very ****. Nice looking though huh
EDIT: overall, I think that the prices are coming down a bit for some reason, but I still have concern about an x50 for under 45-48k. Just my 2 cents. Make sure to do your homework before buying. As we all know, everything on these cars are pricey.
ALSO, I would point out the 55k miles. My original post was talking about how I could see prices more along the $45k for an x50 if you get around 60k miles. I just wanted 20k miles and found it.
