Newbie needs 996tt advice

Hello everyone, I am looking for my first P-car. I would love anyones opinion of the following:

http://www.momentumporsche.com/certified/Porsche/2003-Porsche-911-893ba8e64046388f0156a6be040c0232.htm

It is cpo. It does have a few cosmetic flaws including some paintwork in the back fender the dealer says is from scratches. Clean car fax. It is x50 which had me excited! 50k for 03 tt with 47k miles.

I would love some opinions.

The price looks a little high. I have seen them go for the high 30's to low 40's.

I'd try to find a car from a private seller if I was you. I saved a ton that way when I bought my car. Just make sure you get a pre-purchase inspection done which is a $300 or so but well worth it.

If you go through a private seller, be wary of cars with a lien. I was very close to buying a really nice C4S, but the car had a lien, the lien holder (citi I think) wouldn't release the title until the payment was made in full (actually 3 weeks afterwards) - which of course the owner required payment for the car to do....seemed complicated.

I bought from a dealer with a good reputation, negotiated a good price and I'm happy.

btw I aqree 1000% on the PPI - even if you buy from a dealer (need I say to get another shop to do the PPI)

I've bought a car with similar situation. In the end, I was able to meet the owner at the bank, and I made the final payment, bank actually had paperwork in order to make the transfer, and it was actually kinda painless.

But yah, had that not been the case, I'd be weary about give the guy money to pay it off without handing me a title...

You guys sound like you never bought a car before. All you do is go to your bank and get a cashiers check MADE OUT TO THE BANK HOLDING THE LIEN. Go with seller to the bank, with you driving the new car, give the check to the bank, and they are required by law to transact the deal on the spot. NEVER, never wirte a personal check for a car with a lien. ANd write the entire check to the bank, even if there is a partial equity, the bank will give the seller his money as well.

The car is nice! Fifty would be a little high for me. I would tell them 46 and they would have to fix the scratches on the back. Remember it's a buyers market right now. The longer that car sits on their lot the more money they lose. And I always point that out when I buy a car. It's costs money for a dealership to hold a car. Also when you go in tell them you are looking at another 03 turbo with 50k miles (even though your not). And tell them they want 45,500. Tell them you would rather spend the extra 500 for their car so you know it came from a good dealership, but if they won't work the price then you will just get the other 03. If they call your bluff then leave and go find another one out there. That car isn't the only one made. Get the car you want for the price you want. Don't over spend! That's just my honest thought. Good Luck and post pics when you get one.

Well, it's a cpo meaning that ou will have 2 years or 100k warranty. CPO certification is worth at least 2k.
Given what I saw in the pics, the car seems to be in pretty good condition. Mileage is not too high. So try to bargain them down a bit but methinks it's a decent buy. You know everyone here will tell you it's too expensive but try and find an equivalent for the price they tout! They simply don't exist unless they have been trashed to death.

Yeah...I was out of state (out of country actually) and I felt a little nervous handing over the cash, knowing I wouldn't get the car for at least 3 weeks.
