Why would anyone park a 60-90K car outside anyhow????
If you don't have a garage build one so you can park what every you have......
This reminds me of every now and then when I see a POS rolling down the road with a 10,000 stereo system w/ DVD monitors etc. Just save your $$$$ and buy a decent car.... Who do they think they are fooling?
No love to the owner from me.... only feel sorry for the car....

Yeah, I don't feel bad for the owner either. I'm ok with parking the car outside as long as you still take care of it. This person obviously wasn't careful! They should know better if they live in NY!
You guys are mean...
I can easily see this happen. Looks like brooklyn, and many of those old houses are now split into multi-family so there is no available storage, so the garages are generally full of stuff. so people park on their driveway's which are between houses. They also can't build another garage or a shed due to ordanances and more importanly lack of land.
Accidents happen, I'm sure the guy didn't expect to have ice chunks fall on his car, if he did he would have parked it in the street so a snow plow, street sweeper or some idiot in a POS honda could hit it.
Just shed a tear for the car and the owner's insurance(most likely now 5-10k a year) and move on

Are you guys sure that's his house? I mean he could easily have been visiting a friend's house or just brought the car out for a drive...my car is in storage but on sunny days I take it out and I might leave it outside for an hour or so. You just don't forsee a 100 pound block of ice falling from your roof.

Older homes have no eaves so there isn't enough ventilation to prevent the ice from forming. My last house (built in 49) was the same way and I had ice dams that were this big as well. I had to get on a ladder with a hammer and chisel and beat it all out.
Maybe he was staying the night at his girlfriends. I think we can all give him a "pass" for that!
What sucks is that he could have prevented this by just parking between the house and the garage!
