Slight surge
Slight surge
I have a tip and have noticed a slight acceleration surge between 2.5-3.5rpm range. This is a new issue and have had a major service, did it before service and still does. Normal driving, no heavy acceleration. Car in 3rd gear sometimes 4th. Under heavy acceleration car runs fine. Clue? Thanks
I was told the ecu has several programs downloaded in it and will adapt to how you are driving. Hard driving will change the ecu to a more performance oriented program.

My mechanic cleaned solenoids but that did not do anything either.
If normal, why all techs refer to some problem? I'd rather agree with you for the obvious reasons. But car(s) do not do it and all in a sudden, with high miles, they start doing it. What is with the Variocam then, high miles?
I have the same issue in my 02 996, 6 speed. with 27K. I guessed it was the variocam and indeed I was told by a veteran P mechanic that I was right.
You typically won't feel it in 1st or 2nd because revs are building quickly, higher gears in a sedate mode is when you will notice it most. It never goes away, although if you hammer it, you don't notice it

Mine has never has gotten worse or changed in any way. I live with it, it always there when you're driving easy - no big deal
If your hearing grinding noises, feeling sudden bucking & bouncing, then you better have it checked out
