Bad day for the porsche :(

I've been sick the past few days, just laying in bed, packing here and there, I'm moving this weekend. Today I was feeling better, I took the week off of work, and thought I'd take the porsche for a drive up to the casino.

Go out to the car, try to start it, battery is at 11volts, of course it's not going to start but I try anyways. I pull my truck around to give it a jump, and the cutest college girl walks by, and stops and tells me she loves my car, and she would love a ride. Hack hack hack I cough a way and tell her maybe another time, I'm getting over a cold. Get the car started and head to the atm.

Get to the atm Card is expired! I get anything bank related mailed to my folk's house for security purposes. So I drive to my folks house grab my new atm card, go back to the bank, pull out some cash, and start driving up to the casino, not even half way there I'm getting tired, and realize I probably shouldn't go out, or be spending money when I took the whole week off. So I exit the freeway grab some in n out and head back home. I'm on the freeway for about 10 miles and hear a clunking sound and smell burnt rubber. I knew it was the tire. I coast off the freeway and into the first parking lot. I eat my in n out and rummage through the tools and tire and get wheel off. Both sidewalls were completely destroyed, and it was a brand new tire, dunlop sport.

I put the spare on, lower the car, put all the tools away, and think I'm going to leave. NOPE. I forgot to put the wheel spacer on, so the lugs kept the wheel from turning. So i'm yanking and pulling trying to get the wheel spacer off, and some guy comes up and ask where the engine was...i had the hood open and he seemed blown away that there was no engine under there. He goes on to tell me he's an art major, studied art his whole life and this car is art!

I get the spacer off, and try to put all the lugs in, I could only get 3 of the 5 tight, I live less than a mile away so I figured it would be okay until I got home.

Got home almost purged because of anxiety? I really don't know why.

Cliffs: Car battery dies if I leave the car parked for more than 2 days. (happened ever since I took it to get tires put on) I left the car over night, they put new tires on, pulled the car around front in the morning, I came an hour later, unlock the car, and the battery is dead. They said they had no issues an hour earlier. What would cause this?

Dunlop tire explodes from sidewalls, both inside and out.

Hot girl wants a ride, i blow it because i have the flu

You need new battery it sounds like. You can't just jump a low voltage/old battery and expect your car to charge it or expect an old battery to hold a charge for any significant amount of time.

BTW, don't do anything the next time you're sick.

Previous owner told me he put the battery in less than a year ago..I thought a battery was suppose to last 5 years?

Check the date code on the battery, you should see holes that were punched out. I think most battery have a year or so warranty....

I agree with above - sounds like you need a new battery. An easy test is to charge the battery and disconnect it. Reconnect in a couple of days and see if its dead.

If its not, you've got a short in your wiring you need to chase out. (much less likely, but it happens)

It's life doing the shell game again. Found checker or autozone check for free bad battery or alternator charging and go from there. GL on move.

sorry to hear....i just had my 911 serviced and my guy told me that porsche is notorious for dieing batteries, and thats because we dont drive it everyday. poor car sits for days before i start it up. he replaced the battery for one that holds charge longer and no need to start car every other day to keep battery charged. ill post the name of the battery soon. forgot what it was called.

I second taking the battery toautozone to get it checked/charged. If its bad replace it with an optima.

check date code to see how old. I always use a battery tender on my car since its not daily driven - get one:

http://batterytender.com/automotive/...-at-1-25a.html

Even come with a permanent mount for you battery so its quick to connect.

I am not a big optima fan personally - the 3 i owned never lasted more than a year.

Good luck!

The Battery Tender Junior is good enough and I have used it on previous 3 cars without any issues.

$24 shipped from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender...4181981&sr=8-1

Beats paying ~$100 for the Porsche branded one.
