Well im still undecided so as of now Im driving 93 Mitsubishi 3000 Gt, but Ive been spending to much money on it, Last month i was pulling to much torque and the exhaust couldnt take it and just fell offf, and now Im on my way to replace wiper motors/ electrical system because Ive been driving in the snow with my head out of the window since my wipers dont work.

Do you think jaguar S-types are going to fall apart.

Wow that car is rare. Post pics, I'd love to see it.

1992 Honda Accord - 155K miles - great gas mileage - cheap to insure and repair - and I don't have to worry about where I park it.

hey I was just wondering what you guys get for beater cars, that is something big enough to: take groceries, a long trip, maybe comfort, fit more girls, low depreciation, park it with no issues, maybe fit your luggage when you are going to airportl, but yet still look nice....

I am looking now at bang for your buck and good resale value oh and that it looks nice as a beater car...

What do you guys think, as well as any other cars I should consider. Thanks I really apreciate your help/thoughts
It's not glamorous, but to fit your requirements early in the post, I'd suggest a used/warrantied Lexus RX300. It's actually very comfortable, bulletproof, fits 4 or 5 "realistically-sized" adults (meaning 6ft/190lb guy is comfortable in back), great on a long trip, no prob fitting luggage or groceries, comes in AWD and has a decent stereo too. I went thru this same search a few years ago, needed something to augment the fleet for the same exact reasons. I looked at resale values, and even spoke to a friend who tests vehicles for auto maker marketing claims and found out from him that Lexus cars were the most consistent over the long term testing. I figure roughly that depreciation is around $2.5k/year over the four years we've had it. No complaints. It's not sexy, but not awful either. And, there's been more than once occasion where we ended up driving people out to dinner when a friend was supposed to, but had trouble with his 7-series or Jag. The Lexus has been impressive. Doesn't tow more than jet skis or motorcycle trailers, but if I tow a racecar trailer or boat, I'd want to use a real truck--a diesel. My $.01

you know what else is kind of cool, the old land rovers.

you can get a decent one for like 16K and it still looks pimp and classy.

"pimp and classy" i can't believe i just used those two words in the same sentence.

I went to look at some cars that are on winter clearance at the bmw and I saw this 03 X5, 5speed, no options, sea frost color (kind of like in between silver and green) with 24k miles with a BMW cdertified preowned warranty until 09/2009 and they are asking $29,000. I borrowed my friends X5 all day today to see how it drives and its not bad, The car is priced however under trade in Value of aprox 29-31 thousand (checked good condoition, and excellent condition on kbb.com). Do they usually certify these cars if they have been crashed or have any other problems? Or is this I ridiculous deal as I think it is?

I second that suggestion! IT's hard to go wrong with a Lexus or Honda.

My "beater" is an older LS400. Reliable, comfortable, and quiet, but it looks like my father's car. Actually, it was, until I bought it from him to use as my beater!

How about an older GS400 or 430? Or an Audi A4? Used G35 coupe?
