996 Transmission questions
So my indy has said my transmission is DONE. Now I am looking for a transmission since it appears a rebuild will be more pricey. So my questions are:
Does anyone have experience with VERTEX Auto rebuilt transmissions?
What about Motor Meister rebuilt transmissions?
Would a 02-04 3.6 transmission fit on my 99 3.4?
And Finally, is it better to buy a rebuilt tranny than getting a junk yard tranny?
I intend on selling the car shortly after the tranny is installed unfortunately. Thank you for your time.

Trans issues
Are you talking about a Auto or Manual trans????
A lot of people have had decent luck with purchasing used Automatics from wreckers.
Yet manual trans. are a risky game from wreckers, as most wreckers have a distorted view of pricing on them.
I have a tired manual in my 1999 and have been looking for a "deal" on a good transmission, yet with the pricing from wreckers I might as well just have mine rebuilt, same price......
And of course your vehicle is worth more with a professionaly rebuilt trans in her......

MotorMeister research says no way! I'll pass on them.
So far it seems like Vertex Auto is the way to go. I haven't seen any complaints about them.
I am talking about a manual tranny too by the way.

GBOX wins!
Contact GBOX. http://gboxweb.com/index.html
Good advice! They had a 996C2 manual in stock and ready to go for $3400 with no core charge. I just have to ship them my old one. Now comes the shipping dilemma!

I'd do some research on what exactly GBOX is giving you... if it were up to me I'd give Roger Brown @ California MotorSports a call - they've done tons of these and are definitely a reputable shop... there is also Steve Weiner @ RennsportSystems who has "integrity" written all over his business... think about it before making a move...
I was in a similar situation and dealt with GBOX and wouldn't go that route again... my 2 cents.
