996 wheel question

I have a 996 narrow body and need 2 rims. A front and rear 18x10 and 18x8. I can buy a set of wheels and tires form an 996tt. Will the wheels fit with spaces. I have read the fronts will but can you make the reas work cause the 996tt rears are 18x11.

No the rears wont work due to offset.save your headache with try to fit (probably CNC machine for the offset change is your only option) and buy the right size.
been there done that!!!

thanks gu9cci. Another question. I found replacement whhels at wheelrims.net. I am not sure if they are oem. I called the guy and he said they were oem, but they go by the "hollander number" and not the oem number so i am suspect because they are $169 plus shipping. He also said if the hollander number ends with an "n" tey are replica. On ebay they are $325 each which is the lowest for what I know are oem. Any advise?

They replica ofcourse...if the weight is acceptable and you like them for that price you can try them.
if you look for new wheels for your car take your time and read, compare and think.
Alot of sponsors here sell wheels for good price and fitments is excellent.

Rabbi:
not sure waht you "do" with your car. If it a street driver, then by all means, give the inexpensive wheels a try. If, however, you take your vehicle to the track, I would not recommend a cheap/knock-off wheel. You will be seriously tempting fate, if you track your car with a cheap wheel. The potential for damage to you and your car are much higher as the wheels that look pretty are not built to withstand track level stress. What is safety worth to you? If you track the car, then you should consider a "better" high quality brand. my 2c.

Since you only need 2 rims, you need to get the same exact ones you have on there already. Don't mix and match cheap rims that "look" the same but won't "be" the same.

You can buy the wheels of the turbo. The 50 et 8 18 are the same as all the other 996, the rear 11 18 et 47, 18 and 10 others are 65, and then as if I put spacers behind by 31 mm.

The fronts from the turbo will work fine, the rears will not. You can not machine away any meaningful material from the hub pad to make them work as you will likely machine away the lug seat in the process making it impossible to mount the wheels.... if you were to just machine a very slight amount away you would weaken the area and create a potential failure spot.

Cheers

just get replacements or a whole new set. ebay should have plent of these. the thin spoke on 996 is a great looking rim. ask your dealers near by. they may have some used ones.

Fronts will work for you, rears from a Turbo/ C4S will not work for you, but if you were going the other direction wide to narrow then a 25mm spacer is all you would need to make it perfect.

Good Luck, e-mail me if you have any more questions, eli@wheeldynamics.com I'm not always the fastest on the replies here.
