2002 C2 Top speed

I recently had an opportunity on an empty, flat, straight piece of road to go WFO. It was a nice day with just a little wind and no traffic. New Yokahamas at correct pressure. Car is dropped a little. After 150 it's a little nervous. After 160 it's a lot nervous. I slowed at 165. My friends, your C2 will go faster than that but please don't attempt it without correct modifications.

Thumbs up Fun, Fun, Fun

Nervous as in light in the front end? Or nervous as in, "I'm going to both die and go to jail?"

Did you start to feel the movement in the car? I thought it was my car the last time I got my c4s going 140 and it felt like the car was almost gliding. Then, a few days later I saw a show and the guy was talking about how Porsche is known for a gliding feeling at higher speeds.

Up until 140, I was OK with one finger on the wheel. 140-150 it was one hand. At 150+, it was two hands. At 160, it was plain scary. If a mosquito landed on my arm at that speed I wouldn't be writing this now. Please don't attempt it. Air gets under the car at those speeds and it feels like it wants to take flight.

I believe you Jackson, the only way to fix this lift problem is with more downforce like a wing and ground effects.

Just cuz you can, doesn't mean you should..at least that's what I'm told. Three years ago I took ED of a BMW 535 with my son and dad. I ended up in the back seat as my then 18 yr old son screamed down the A-bahn between Nurnberg and Munich at 155MPH--with the comment, "I think it is getting a little light in the front end Dad." About 10 seconds later we were passed by a newer 911 GT-something going at least 170...passed us like we were standing still. Living in the US, I'll never get the chance to take my 996 out like that and just let it go until I lose my nerve...

my car is solid at top speed...no modifications...sounds like you need more time at speed to me...unless there is something wrong with the car...have you ever tracked it?
