Should I buy this porsche?
Should I buy this porsche?
Hi everyone,
I've been a silent observer of this forum for some time now and have decided to buy a nearly new 911.
I'm thinking of putting an offer on this car but I won't be able to inspect it personally. Carfax checks out but that really doesn't mean much. I want it inspected by a Porsche dealer but what should I ask them to do??
What is a reasonable price for this car.
thanks for your help.

GT3 w/ a buy it now price in the low 60s? It sounds like a very low price, way below wholesale. I wonder if it is a 996 w/ a kit and a GT3 badge. One pic w/a GT3 badge and one w/o. careful!
You are correct - carfax is next to worthless unfortunately. I would definitely have a Porsche dealer to inspect it. It's called a PPI - pre purchase inspection. They will know what it is and it usually runs around $150. If you are a PCA member, you should be able to talk them into a 15% discount.

Star, Be very careful. I personally would not touch that care with a ten foot pole. Just look at the motor and it will be an indication on how it has been maintained. Carfax does not mean doodles and it basically is worthless. Do yourself a favor and either befriend and auto broker or go to your local dealer and stay off of E-Bay motors. There were 120 million dollars of fraud on E-Bay last year alone.. Be Red Flag..

Also that car was sold for x dollars with no reserve. Seller backed out. If you're looking for a 996, check the local classifieds, autotrader, cars.com, etc and find a well maintained 1 owner car with service records from an enthusiast. It will take time, but it will be worth it.
Good Luck!

Star, If you want an absolutely georgous C4S. I recommend buying Doug's C4S in the middle of this thread. He has probably the most beautiful c$s running. He has pampered her to the max. If I had 72ger she would be in my BEDROOM. and the wife would be in the garage!!!!!
A GT3 look can mean anything.
I wouldnt be surprised if it's an old VW with a porsche body. Once you state "look" in an ad youve covered yourself against fraud.
I am sure its a real porsche but something is wrong here.
But it looks good.
