Need help connecting iPod in place of CDC-3 cd changer

The CD changer is connected via the stock cable to a CDR-220. The cable terminates in a pair of female RCA connectors and a round DIN plug. I disconnected the CDC-3 and then hooked up an iPod to the RCA connectors using an Apple dock connector to RCA cable. I did not leave the DIN plug connected. On the CR-220 I got AUX in place of CDC but there was no audio whatsoever (not even at full volume). I reconnected the DIN connector and the CR-220 showed CDC in place of AUX but I still got no sound. Am I missing something here or will the Becker head units not recognize anything other than their CD changers connected to the RCA plugs?

I am getting a CDR-220 next week, so that I can still have access to a CD player once the CD changer is removed. Becker sell a cable that runs from the back of the head unit to an Apple dock connector connection and the Becker head unit will then recognize the iPod on the AUX source. If hooking the iPod to the CD Changer RCA connectors can't work then I'll order the cable from Becker.

Suggestions?

Try getting this connector. Just installed it last week in about 20 minutes and it works flawlessly.

I have the Becker cable for 4G iPod Touch/iPhone and I'm very happy with it. It's more expensive ($100 iirc) than the ones for earlier iPods. It uses the normal iPod connector, like the one you use to connect it to your computer, not RCA plugs.

That is not the same cable. That cable will not charge your iPod. Cheaper, yes...as useful, no.

Maybe it is, but I was talking about a cable for all iPods and iPhones, including the latest 4G devices. This is a single connection that plays through the radio and keeps the iPod charged. Here is my set up.

The cable above is the iWireP cable. It works fine, but won't charge your phone or iPod while in use obviously since it uses the headphone jack. I'll have to look at for the Becker cable as I'd like to be able to have my phone charge while in use.

Step one ----junk the whole thing and start over. Becker sucks, BOSE sucks. Step two --- start with a decent aftermarket double din head unit which gives you a great IPOD interface, Voice Nav, blue tooth, back up cam, media port, DVD player etc Step three get a good seperate amp and new speakers.

Jerry rigging the stock systems is money down a well. Trust me, I bought the IPOD interface for the BOSE systems and it kinda sorta works when it wants to. Still no blue tooth and an outdated nav system that requires stupid expensive updated nav discs.

I agree that if you want a Nav unit and something that doesn't look stock, go with a double-din unit. But if you just want to play your iPod through your existing system, go with the Becker cable. Mine works perfectly every time.

It looks like it might work, but why would you want to build a Rube Goldberg system when a much more elegant solution exists?

There aren't any solutions like this for a MOST bus car, or are there?
