Question ECU upgrade for C4S

Any opinions or experiences on upgrading the ECU for a '04 C4S? Given its a N/A engine, is it really worth the $$?

I will let you know. My ECU is being upgrade by Evolution Motorsports later this week. I am also trying their new intake.

I am definitely looking forward to it!

I've flashed so many 996s including a good few C4S'... So far everyone has been more than happy Just go for it, you get another 20hp or so.. Find your nearest GIAC flash center...

If you do the exhaust and intake at the same time, you can get at best 20 HP at high RPMS with a slight loss of low end TQ. Overall, your money is best spent elsewhere, especially in the suspension.

I hear the GIAC chips are more noticeable on the 3.4 cars.

don't misunderstand.. I think the 3.6 is a fantastic motor... with more torque and all... but the 3.6 cars are also "heavier"

I've consistently raced and kept up with 3.6 cars cause my 99 C2 is "light"

do a comparison on the 2 cars at this website and you'll be surprised:

www.track-challenge.com

you can compare the 3.4 996 with the 3.6 996 and pay attention to the track times - where it really matters...

the 3.6 has much better engine elasticity - no doubt about that... but big difference... don't think so - small difference.. yes... bottom line is you can equalize performance with a chip upgrade on the 99 3.4 due to its lower weight and output of the GIAC software for that particular motor.

the 3.6 is already optimized from Porsche and GIAC can only squeeze 8-10 hp out of it (negligible) where as the 3.4 can get a full 20 from just the chip...

yes I agree... the 3.6 is already maxed out - from what I've heard from other boards a chip for the 3.6 isn't worth it.
