Photoshop my wheels, please?
Photoshop my wheels, please?
Any photoshop experts out there that can change the color of my wheels?
Let me preface by saying that both my girlfriend and I like showy cars (yellow Vette, yellow Viper, Green/Yellow Esprit...). And also that these are replica rims that cost exactly 1/6th of the price of the real BBS LM wheels, so there's no great harm. And that I have a wheel shop that can paint the rims very well for $100 a piece, so not a huge investment there either...
Anyway, I would like to see what the rims look like in a traditional gold color. Just on the face, not on the polished lip.
We saw a promotion poster at the dealer of an old 911 turbo that was blue with gold rims and it looked cool. I also saw a Viper racing in China with these same rims in gold...
Any body?

p.s. I have this photo, and other angles, at 5 megapixels if you need me to e-mail them to you...

Here's a pic of the Viper with gold wheels that I saw in China racing against Porsche GT1's, F40's McLarens, Marcos, etc... Even the driver looked scared when this thing fired up in the pits!
These are the rims from Highline Wheels (aka OEM Styles 4 Less). I called them up and got them for $800 for 4. They have sold on eBay for as little at $500 for 4, but I missed those hand full of auctions...
The wheels are great, but not without some issues. First, they are advertised for C2's, but the reality is that the rear offset is more like those of the wide body cars in the rear. It's 48mm instead of 65mm...
Some people are running these rims as-is on narrow bodies and they say they look fine. I took them to a specialized machine shop in Houston that milled off about a 1/4 from the mounting plate so that I have about a 53mm offset.
I can't imagine the wheels looking right without that milling, but as they are now, they are great.
Second, they fit very tight on the centering hub fingers. But I sanded off the crud from the fingers and applied a little brake grease to make sure they wouldn't be too hard to get off. You can always get them off buy wiggling the wheel back and forth a lot. No need to get a hammer to them.
I had them road force balanced at Tire Rack, and they are absolutely smooth as silk at any speed. A big improvement over the look of the turbo twists that were on there.
They also have them in 19", but they are about 3x's the cost. Also, I just reused my 225 fronts and 265 rears, so I didn't have to buy new tires... The tires are a little small for the 8.5 and 10" rims, but I actually like the rounded off look. Reminds me of the beasts of rear wheels I had on the Viper (13" rears).

There was a long thread about this seller on Rennlist. Apparantly he was using pix of the real wheels, and selling these cheaper knockoffs....I'm curious, are there any other issues besides what you posted....the prices I'm seeing from him now are quite a bit higher than what you paid....what do you think about them mounted on a C4S?
thanks
No other issues... I spoke with about 6 owners of these wheels before I bought them, and no one had anything bad to say. I found a BMW forum where a lot of people were buying them too with good success.
The rears are a 10x18. If you are ok with 10" rims, they will look great. If you need, you can always put a spacer. Much easier than milling for when they stick out too much.
I was never under the impression these were anything more than replica rims. They look just like the photos I saw...
Well, there was one other minor shipping issue...They sell Porsche centercaps for the wheels (you will need these and make sure you negotiate them in), and they only shipped me 1 of the 4 that I needed. So I am still waiting for the other 3. In the mean time, I put chrome tape over the plastic caps while I wait for the emblems to arrive this week.

I have them for my snows, with a c4s you will need spacers to clear the big red brakes, I suggest ralph boothe 6mm spacers and longer bolts. They work fine for me, I may even mount some race tires this summer. I had zero issues with the seller, I called the owner directly, the morons who take orders are another issue.
FWIW, they offer a 65et rear version as well. I got them for 700, they are a good value IMO.

PRH,
here u go. however, IMO if u're into look u should focus on the car first. for example, suspension, side skirts, bumper etc to give the car the lower look. if u focus on the wheel too much itself might look good but wouldn't go well with the car as a whole image. the BBS LMs already look racy but it looks pretty funky on a car without aerokit or SUV height

Thanks 20C4S and Frisco! That's exactly what I was hoping for!
The lighter colored gold of Frisco's seems to go better with the red. And like 20C4S said, it looks better lower.
But I already have the 030 sport suspension, and it's one rough ride as it is...I'll have to do searches on lowering to see what the options are that won't beat us up. The car is a daily driver mainly for my g/f, and for us to go out with the little one too, hence the trade of the Viper for a 911.

BTW, I do have a GT3 I "taco" wing on the way from Canada. So I am slowly building up to it...The Taco should look ok without the skirts and bumpers with this car until I figure something out there too...
