New user looking for current pricing

Hey guys, I'm a new user here, a defector from the M3 (it's a long story)

Anyway, just wanted to say hi.

And I wanted to see what you guys think would be a reasonable price (over invoice or as percentage discount) on a new 03 C2 now that 04s are being delivered. I'm going to try and finalize a deal today, so any tips would be very much appreciated. I heard that Porsche may have incentives on the 03s?

Thanks! I'll post pics of course sometime this weekend.

I would say 10k of list should be the starting point. I would think you should be able to pick up a 2003 at a few thousand below invoice.

Really? Well, that's encouraging. Do you know how much the incentive is? I assume there is a significant program going on if dealers are selling thousands below invoice.

Not sure what the current discount is by just walking off the street, but there have been numerous postings about discounts recently. You should be able to get a great deal -- also I remember others on the board talking about discounts they received for being Loyal Porsche Customers and a year-end trade-up program that was running.

You may try doing a search

Year end trade-up link: http://216.7.163.99/~speedon/forums/...upgrade+letter

Don't forget -- we want pictures and a detailed shopping report when you return home today!

GOOD LUCK!

As far as I know there is no incentives unless you currently own a 996. There is about 10k mark up in the car plus dealer holdback.

Go to Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) to get the dealer cost. On average, the 911 has a markup of just under 15%.

The "letter" had $3K incentive on base Boxsters, $4K on Boxster S, and $5K on 911's (not including C4S or Turbo).

Autospies reports that the "letter" has been replaced by incentives in the same neighborhood available to all.

With a little shopping around, you should be able to get a 2003 911 for $2K under dealer cost as the incentive will give them about $3K "profit" to pay overhead. I got 12% off a C2 Cab in June of this year without incentives and $10K (16.4%) off a Boxster S last week. Go to the Porsche website and look at stock available from dealers within 200 miles of you, make a short list of cars you like, then get on the phone to arrange a few visits/drives of cars you like. Be up front with the dealer on your expectations. At least in the Northeast, there are quite a few dealers looking to move some metal who will give you a great deal.

Good luck shopping!!
