KW V3 Review - Thumbs up to Rob
KW V3 Review - Thumbs up to Rob
This post is long over due but is also a testiment to the integrity that Rob at Vivid has and the quality / expertise of the KW coil overs.
What an experience taking my 996 C4S to the KW factory to have the V3s installed. The KW craftshop (not a factory) is very impressive. These guys are hardcore. I rolled my C4s into the shop next to a GT3 RS that was still hot from testing at Nurburgring. I tried to talk them into letting me take it as a loaner while the V3s were installed but they didn't take me seriously. ??? I was entertained with the array of 3D driving simulators that they let me have full access to!
Back to the Coilover review... They are so easy to set up for what ever you want to do. I've gone through several sets of coil overs and was extreamely unhappy with either the ride quality or the performance. Since I live in Germany and drive an unlimited autobahn every day to work suspension is critical to me. Too soft and the car floats and bounds, too hard and over damped and the car looses contact with the road. The KWs work exactly as they should. I can set them up for Nurburgring and all of the changes of the track and it feels like the car is magnetically attracted the road surface at speeds that you forget about the speedometer. Off the track and a couple of quick adjustments and it's very comfortable and settled. Every other suspension I tried was just a compromise between full race and just a little better than stock (pretty darn good).
Hats off to Rob and the fantastic product that KW produces. Not cheep but you do get what you pay for!
