Question Bhp ?

Hi,

Quick question around BHP which I hope you guys can help with.

Are the BHP's quoted by car manufacturers just raw engine power or does it take into account the cars weight (which will obviously affect the speed?

Thanks,

J

The bhp is independent of the car's weight. The power:weight ratio is what takes weight into account.

Also - note that BHP is usually only relating to HP at the crank ie. This figure does not normally include drivetrain losses (Typ. around 17%)
