Question about GT3 suspension in 996 C2

Hey guys,

Wondering if I could get some help here from someone who knows more about this than me.

I purchased some 996 GT3 coilovers that I am going to put in my C2 and am having them rebuilt at Bilstein right now. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure I am having the right kind of rebuild done.

I told them that I am going to be putting them in a C2 and will be using it for street and track but that setting them up just for track is fine. I hope I don't end up with a setup that is unstreatable.

Also, I remember reading something somewhere about how the C2 suspension bolts in a little differently so to get the GT3 ride height I will need to lower them to a setting lower than on the GT3. Is this the case and should I have told them that at Bilstein?

Also, and finally two of the struts don't have the adjuster things that the springs rest on (I bout these ones https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...uspension.html and as you can see from the pic, the struts on the right show an area where it is more silver than the rest where these obviously were... Do I need new ones or can I get them off the old suspension when I do the switch?)

I guess thats about it. I already bought the new monoball top mounts for the font. I guess now I just need some droplinks and sway bars...

If there is anything I am missing, please let me know.

Thanks for any help!

I have seen a couple of threads with instructions for installing GT3's on a C2. Try here or in renntech.org.

Your missing the rear sway bar mounting collars.

2 options:
1. Move your front mooting collars to rear and use stock mounting point at the pinch bolt location to attach front sway bar.

2. There's an aftermarket company that sells sway bar mount collars for around $250.

Porsche does not just sell this part and isn't listed in the normal etk.

Awesome, thanks for the info.

Since you seem to know about this, is either options preferable to the other?

Also, I have searched around and have not been able to find the aftermarket mounting collars... Do you know what company sells them or where I could find them?

Also, do I need the two rings that the springs rest on as well for adjustment?

Woops, I found a pic of the complete suspension, so it looks like I am missing those rings as well.

This kind of sucks... I guess I can see if Bilstein can give me those.

Technically, you will need 3 rings per side if you elect to go with the GT3 sway bar mounting collars on both front and back.

You are also missing the rear boots. You can just get some Ranch Shock boots from Jegs and cut them down as an alternative.

If you don't have rear sway bar end links, you might need those too.

BTW, do you already have the GT3 front strut mounts? If not, you'll need those too.

Aftermarket GT3 sway bar mount collars can be ordered from Chase Kaplan at porschedockaplan@gmail.com and the last time I inquired was around $250.

Thanks Alpine, your help is much appreciated.

I do have the front strut mounts. I guess I can get the rings from Bilstein, or so they said.

I will email chase and see about getting the mount collars.

Thanks again. I may have more questions soon as I am trying to get this setup sorted out in the next week or so.

Regards
