Question Short Shift Kit????

Can't decide on this mod. If you have had it done, please give me your impressions of it as a daily driver. If I decide to have it done, the boys at RUF will take care of it for me.

I have the Ruf under the car kit set at the shortest... Couldn't be happier and could never go back to those stock throws...

Have the B&M for $199, installed it in an hour, and couldn't be happier with the result. Additional tip: after the install, make sure to spray some high quality lubricant into all the moving parts. I just did it (3 months after the install) and it took most of the notchy feel away. I drive it every day (10,000 mi/yr.).

Get it. You will wonder why Porsche didn't make it standard.

Get the Porsche part too in case of warranty headaches...second gear (on the TTs at least) has been know to have popping out issues (not SSK related) but some dealers will blame the SSK to stiff you with the bill so migh as well pay the $300 premium for the OEM Porsche part over the B&M and save yourself headache down the road

If I do this mod, I will get the RUF setup and it will be installed by RUF at their auto centre in Dallas

One of my favorite mods. At first I questioned; why would I spend the money, is it worth it?

NOW I would highly recommend it. I had the B&M short shifter and a cargraphic exhaust installed the same day.

I WOULD higly recommend the short shifter!

Do you have the in car or under carriage unit? Shouldn't you use grease for the joints and moving parts?

Neil & redduck--I got the in-car kit. I did a lot of research, and found out that there was no easy way to do the under-car install without a lift (there are some panels underneath which have to be removed) Also, the reduction of the in-car SSK is over 35%.
You have to remove the rear center console halfway to lubricate the shifter.

I did mine 02 TT without a lift. Just drove it up on some ramps. Was simple 30 min install at the most and it is as smooth as stock. You can't even tell except for the throws.

Oh, I only removed the center console up to the storage compartment. I didn't know I needed to remove the rear. I'll give that a shot and spray some lube on it. The car is a little stiff/notchy, especialy in the mornings..
