I had the same concerns about visibility. Operation and visibility are very good.
I like the location. I just velcroed in place.
Thanks for the feedback Jim! I just ordered the GPS!

I just did this mod as well. I used the phone plug to power the GPS so it turns on and off with the car.

The only problem I have is cutting the custom trip that goes below the GPS. What are the best tools to cut that ABS sheet? I thought it'd be much easier than it is. I've been using a dremel without much success...

a dremel should work, and then stick the trim direct on the BAT WING- the plug for the GPS goes in a bit so its perfect, the trim peace will be flush

How well does it work down there...Isnt the antenna built into the unit? I would think the signal down there would be terrible.

Mine appears to work fine located there. I have not had a problem with losing the signal.

It works perfect, no problem with the signal, as for the the plug , you will connect it to the radio power, so the nav unit turns on and off with the car

Those of you who have a Magellan GPS, how quickly does it pick up the satellite? I have a Garmin Nuvi 260 and it's very slow, especially if I don't have it attached to the windshield using the suction cup mount.

I did this mod and it looks great. The Magellin picks up the Satellite rocket fast almost as soon as it powers up. I have it programmed to go on and off with the key, day and night colors run on auto as well. Great mod for near next to nothing $$$
