The V1 saved me three times this weekend. My wife and I went to Cayucos via the 58, what a blast. The V1 paid for itself.

Cool Radar Results ... sort of

OK, so Teresa and I went to the Smokies again for our annual getaway and spent some time on the Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway. I have added pictures to my collection ... here's the URL

Latest Tail of Dragon Pics

Anyway, back to the topic header. We took the V1 and 8500 (older) with us and put them up side by side for 1200+ miles ... anyone want to know the results?

NOT ONE SINGLE COP had their radar running the ENTIRE TRIP! We got instanted on a few times so both radar detectors worked equally well. So here are some observations based on limited data.

1) V1 did pick up X and K band first (did have one cop with his radar on AFTER we got home with both still up) by a few seconds (maybe 3).

2) V1 falsed a great deal more on X band (no surprise) BUT .. their was some frequency within that band that ONLY falsed on the 8500!! Found that very interesting .. wish I knew which one. Also, the 8500 occasionally falsed on K when the V1 did not. ??

3) V1 definitely has better REAR sensitivity than the older 8500. Would love to try the X50 version.

I was hoping to share more but what I did find amazing is that in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina not one policeman ran his radar in "lazy mode". With this, the lower profile racks, increased use of laser and the one unmarked white camaro I encountered (safely thank goodness) I would definitely say the game is getting tougher.
