That sounds quite interesting.... one could also use colored tint on the windows to help with the dividing and flow of the colors. Personally, I have a cabriolet and need a new top, Ive been thinking of getting a colored canvas to go with the paint/wrap of the car if/when I do it.

I wonder what Chip Foose would do?

2-tone Porsche -

So unlike the one color treatment that Porsche seem to get, there are some nice examples that run races and I have seen some examples that put two very unusual colors together. Colors can change the shape of a car when applied correctly. For instance giving a narrow body the look of a wide body is quite possible I believe. Just look at the 3-D street paintings. I am thinking of adding one particular color to my basalt black Turbo. That would be just a wrap for part of the rear-end of the car and as such way less expensive, so an annual re-wrap would be not too big of a deal. I am also thinking that a nice color shift wrap would be awesome too- again only for the rear-end of the car... There must be some PhotoShoppers out there that can make some real good suggestions... Anybody??

Good "FULL-wrap" jobs here in the midwest will run you as much as a paint job. The problem is that, you can still see seams in certain places and some wrinkles in others. I have yet to see a full "wrap job" that looks GREAT. I have however, seen plenty of awesome paint jobs.

If I keep my car for another year, I would also like to do something substantially different...contemplated a wrap job for the whole car just changing the color, but, as stated, I have yet to seen an awesome job up close and in person.

Betyouluze - chill out man. If you put that badge on your car, you should expect to get a little crap for it - there is no way you put that on there and expected everyone to say: "that was an awesome idea!". At the end of the day, it is YOUR car and other people's opinions really should not matter. We don't drive your car. The color of the car is beautiful. Which track do you go to?

Personally, I've seen some very mind blowing wraps, and simple wraps that are done correctly that do not have seams, bubbles, lines, or any other defect in any part of the wrap. I believe it comes down to who makes the wrap (is it a good brand like 3M or a Chinese knock off), the experience of the person/people installing it, the technique used, the amount of preparation of the surface, and lastly the amount of dedication and attention applied by whoever is installing the wrap.

I have a buddy here in Chicago who runs a Lotus who will constantly change the color of his car with a new wrap every 6 months or so. (he does it because he likes so many different colors on the car.) I have never seen a flaw in the wrapping.

I think it is a matter of my location. I live in KS

There are only a few shops that offer those type of services and...meh, I am sure that has something to do with it. But even when I have been to LA, NY and FL, and see wrapped cars up close, I am able to find lots of imperfections throughout.

There are some very good shops here in FL that do excellent wrap jobs you just have to find them online or through word of mouth. Find the best one in your area and talk to the guy who had it done. Easy

Yes, I did it in Vancouver, BC. Overall it was just over $4k. The material itself was $1.6k (3M Anthracite Carbon Fiber).
If you are interested I've posted more pictures in this thread: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...d-cayenne.html

The price for a good quality job(including material) starts at $2.5k for a sedan and around $3.5k for a SUV. It also varies depending on the brand, type of the vinyl (cf, chrome, leather are more expensive materials) and vehicle itself.

You just got ripped off on the 3M material. You paid well over $500 more than you should have.

I don't think so. I called official 3M dealer in Canada before I ordered it. 1080 Carbon Fiber Anthracite 60" vinyl costs $66.91 + tax(HST) per yard. 25 yards (for the whole car) cost $1873.5 in total including tax. I paid around CAD $1600.

The price may vary in US and Canada or we might be talking about different films.

That could be true, my fault for jumping to irrational conclusions. I've seen pricing around $1100 for an entire roll of 48inch x 100ft (33.33 yards) by 3M which is also the carbon fiber pattern.
