My Indy thinks some vandal put something my gas tank that caused my engine to fail. What could cause a piston to crack?

We have vandals targeting us and there appears to something spilled in there ( not gas).

If you can prove that it was vandalism, you're insurance will probably cover it.

I read that.
I'm trying to find out what in my gas tank could cause the piston or wall to fail.

I usually fill my tank when it's about half empty, which may have caused this to happen over a few weeks.

I thought mythbusters proved sugar did NOT do anything to modern cars.
I beleive flat6 inovations states the water pump can cause this issues by the impeller breaking down and causing hot spots.

I found something on an italian porsche forum... A mechanic suggested that sugar vaporizes in the chamber and with heat, it created a hard caramel like coating that would than be compressed over and over. Subsequently enough mass would be in the chamber, to crack a piston or line the cylinder heads.....

Dont know the science behind his story but it did sound possible..

Thanks for the help! I was told soda, orange juice and many liquids with a high enough sugar content can cause these engines to go POP!
