Did I pay too much for my 996 C2 service?

Hello All, I just had my 2000 996 CAB in for service, and had them replace the serpentine belt, engine mounts, LN IMS upgrade double bearing, RMS, and new clutch since I am right at 59,151 miles. Total cost at the dealership came to $3,318.49, but was curious if this is consistent with this cost or over.

Thanks for your input.

A new clutch at a Porsche dealer is $3k by itself. You got quite a bit done for $3k.

Thanks white99c2, I just confirmed it again reviewing my invoice to make sure, and it shows the new clutch replacement along with the RMS. Good to hear since I also got to see the old clutch, IMS, serp belt, and motor mounts when I went to pick it up. The service manager walked me back into the bay and had all of the old parts laid out on the bench and then proceed to show the work underneath the car although I could only see the mounts, the rest of the area looked pretty new. The drive home was the key, and definitely a difference. Thanks!

Assuming all the parts were included in the total, a fair price point at a Porscher dealership. An indy could have been a few hundred $$$ less. But, they would have to be a highly reputable indy.

The old one showed some minor wear to the bearings, and should have taken photos at that time to have shown the condition. I drive the car pretty much all summer, but it stays dormant during the winter. I called the service advisor and he is going to grab it for me, and said they like to keep things like this to show their customers the difference in condition from bad to full failure. I'll post photos on the condition.

hope that shop is reputable. RMS and IMS leaks require a good shop with the right tools and experience.

enjoy the ride.

Prices

And on top of that, don't you get a 24 month warranty on parts and labor when done at a dealer?

Correct, I checked through LN Engineering for recommend shops and my dealer Stevinson Imports was one of them http://www.stevinsonimports.com/index.htm. They gave me a additional 24 months on top of the LN Engineering warrenty for the IMS. Although did some home work with reviewing all the threads on 6Speedonline to insure I could catch if the service advisor or service mechanic was not givening me the full details. All of the input on the service costs has been great. Thanks!
