Went in for an M3, left with an itch for a 911
So I went to a dealer today intending to check out an M3 and just for fun sat in an '02 911 C2 convertible. Wow, very nice.
But now I have a dilemma. I'm not sure where to start when researching the Porsche. Not a bad dilemma, I know.
My question: what 911 would you suggest for a budget of $25-30K? I'm open to just about any suggestion on year / model, though I did like the convertible a lot
Thanks!

I was looking at a '95 e46 SMG. I liked it a lot, but the 911 made it feel a bit like a typical sedan. A bit... I still may get it, as I didn't have a chance to test drive the Porsche. Fun for today
Thanks for the suggestion nosatalian!

i assume you mean a 2005 e46, which is a great car, i had one in a manual and loved it, having owned both i would probably pick the porsche but it would be a very close decision, if it was going to be a dd i might go with the m though

The fun factor and unique characteristics of the Porsche make it a much better buy for at that price point.
Good luck!

If you get the Porsche, you will NOT have an itch for the BMW. As somebody said, the BMW feels like a sedan when going slow and like a sports car when going fast.
The Porsche, feels like a sports car that either goes slow, or fast. A bit harder for DD yes, but you'll be commuting in a sports car which is fun.
I'd get a 4S if you can.

I stressed over this choice as well
I went with '00 996 Carrera with 55K miles that I got for $22K earlier this year. Just had the 60K service and mechanic says that mine is above average for year/mileage.
So, you may be able to get one for less than that.

Two of my buddies at work have the e46 and they are secretly jealous.
