Anyone noticed FedEx prices lately?

I buy a lot of car stuff through the mail and often eBay stuff too, so I am using UPS-like services a lot.

Has anyone noticed that FedEx ground is about 50% cheaper and always gets there in 3 days or even less compared to UPS that can take a week sometimes? And with the FexEx Kinkos, there's a lot of manned drop off points now too...

I wish a lot of these vendors would start using FedEx to pass on these savings....It can really add up when you're shipping around body parts and things like exhausts....

A customer of mine, who owns a mail service center, enlightened me about two years ago when Fedx ground was fairly new. My experience is that Fedx ground is cheaper and quicker than UPS.

fedex is SOOOOOOOOO much better than UPS! if they guarantee that it'll get to you in a week but can actually get it to you sooner, they WILL. UPS will hold on to the package until it is supposed to be delivered.

i tracked a UPS package and found that it was sitting at the distribution center ,only 20 miles away, but they sat on it for 4 days because it was supposed to be delivered on a certain day. STUPIT!

I've notice that too, that they exceed expectations.

Let's put pressure on vendors to use FedEx! It's our extra money they are using to give us worse service.

Angry Fed Sux

before you guys get your panties in a bunch about how wonderful FedEx is let's have the other side of the story. They have lost one of my GT3 seats....at this point, 7 days later, they don't even know if they for sure picked it up, even though their f'uped tracking system says they did...they are now trying to tell me that the shipper never shipped it and will have to file a claim...they have been completely unresponsive and absolutely no help in tracking the box down...the irony is, I have a FedEx account for my business and spend lots of money with them every year....do you think that mattered?....NOT!....this has been a very frustrating experience for me and I hope no other 6 speeder's have such bad luck....Rant over...

We use both FedEx and UPS with good luck from both. Prices to most zip codes are within a few bucks with FedEx being just a bit cheaper usually. The main diff. for us is that UPS will leave the product if you are not there, and FedEx usually requires a signature. I don't think either company loses more than the other, really.

I can attest that Damon is telling the truth. I purchased my tires recently from Tirerack and had UPS deliver a very sweet package to my doorstep.

Fedex doesn't do residential pickup does it? UPS does and that make it easier to ship. Fedex is faster and both are equally bad when packages are lost.

I worked for UPS for 20 years and was a Division Manager. I remember when Fed Ex ground started we thought they would not be as successful as they appear to be today. I bought some tires and wheels that were shipped UPS a couple of months ago and they arrived on different days although they were shipped off together. The first set to arrive was a day late as well. I've also been the recipient of a few crushed boxes and torn envelopes as well. I have yet to experience that with the Fed Ex ground service.

UPS used to have the cheapest rates for almost all levels of service. That doesnt appear to be the case anymore. They predicted about 10 years ago that although the company built itself up on ground service, thier future vision was that it would no longer be the core of thier business and profits. They were looking to get into E-Commerce and Logistics. International and domestic air packages were going to be another big focus. Information technology was going to be huge as well. Seems that its all coming to light.

FedEx billing is also much better than UPS. My last two UPS bills have had mistakes...one was a computer math mistake...wtf...I showed it around my office to make sure I wasn't missing something. I have an UPS box at my office and prefer to drop the FedEx off at box a half mile away. :-(

The downside with FedEx is their local service reps are pathetically weak.

We've asked FOUR times for a rate sheet and price quote to change from our standard UPS daily pickup, and they have fallen each time.

Biggest negative for shippers is that ground picks up differently than air, whereas UPS picks up end of day for all at one time.
