Smile 996 Bumpers

Okay, so I have been getting a little tired of the OEM bumper on my 03' 996
But decided when I get back stateside that I will change it
Turns out someone else didn't like it either, and decided to hit and destroy my bumperettes and some paint on rear.
Thank god for insurance, the company will reimburse me for any bumper cheaper than the OEM 996 one, so roughly less than 1100 I am guessing.
So I have been shopping around and really found the 996 turbo bumper and the 997 gt3 bumper

Anyone have any recommendations? I cant seem to make a decision, or if anyone prefers others
then please let me know and with pics if you could show me what you are currently running
thanks!!!

Listen just a heads up...

Ya may want to check with the insurance com. 'cause I had an issue with my bumper too and they only covered the cost for a "recycled" (second hand) dumper

Yep they said that it was not new when it got damaged so they where not required to put a new bumper on... of course it had to be in good condition and look like new once installed but... the allocated cost for the bumper (not paint & labor) was only $250,-

So ya may want to look into that

GL.

Thanks, but over in germany they have insurance laws of some sort that after labor and install it must be looking new or then must be replaced again.
They are strict on the exteriors of all the vehicles that go through inspection
So, great news

Personally I would prefer the 996 turbo bumper for a 996 car. Just a better design fit to the 996 in my opinion. Don't have any pics. My car was a C4S, so it came with the turbo bumper stock.
I'm guessing you have a narrow body. Before you buy, make sure they are specifically made for narrow body 996s. Otherwise could be a rude awakening and extra costs due to cutting to fit.

You can get a 996 Turbo style rear bumper specifically fit for a 996 narrow body. Check with Precision Porsche....

Also look at MA Shaw. Lots of business on this forum and others and highly reputable for cheap money for what you get.

I'm happy with my 03 rear bumper as the bumperets are body colored. I did want something different on the front without being too radical and decided on the GT3 front spoiler ( part #996-505-986-92-01C) It may be different for your 99, but, makes a simple and inexpensive add-on. It also seems to add some high speed stability, not that I go fast. :-) You will find plenty of install instructions on 6-speed.
