Please Help! Major concern with 2002 911 C4S
SubscribeIf it is tied to your driving habits then you still need to find out what is wrong. I drive mine hard every day, and it never smokes. There is something not right here. It may be as bad as you thought, but you need to have it checked out.
I'm in Toronto. Just changed my oil from Mobil 1 0-40 to Motul 5-40. My engine sounds quieter and I just feel better after reading lots of good stuff about motul. Try a fresh oil change.
Yes, oil level may be the issue.
I just had an oil change ( while having the ac evaporator changed...very expensive )
Today: no smoke on start - up.
If I drive aggressively , i am pretty sure I will have a puff of smoke the next day.
The oil level is near the top of the dip-stick.
Generally, if you do some track driving, they say you need to keep the oil level at mid dipstick level.
Boxer engine etc.
It just feels soooo gooood flooring that thing off and on :-D

Try allowing the engine to idle for a full minute in a level parking spot before turning the engine off. This allows more of the oil to be pumped out of the heads & returned to the sump where it is less likely to get past the rings.

Are you parking on a hill/inclined driveway? If so, turn it around and park the other direction and see if that helps - or park on a flat surface. I've seen that after parking on a hill tail down.Originally Posted by blown
Hmm....that sounds concerning. It's hard not to drive the car hard that's. Does anyone have the issue as me where it doesn't need much to hard driving to have smoke at start? Has anyone replaced the AOS and found it has resolved the issue?
I park on the level.
The idling idea seems to work.
Incidentally, I had the same thing on my '89 911 Targa off and on.
When I use it driving normally on my work commute its not a problem .
