Prricing help for a 2004 996 Aniversary Ed.

Was planning on buying a porsche and importing it back into Canada but stumbled across a mint 2004 996 40 aniversary edition with 20000 miles (27000 km) with the power up kit at a dealer here. Also has a 2 yr CPO warranty. They are asking $49900 and the car has all leather interior......and is virtually perfect. It would cost me another 6.8% duty to import a porsche so I have to factor that in too. What would a car like this be worth, this would be my first porsche and this one grabbed me. Was thinking of a 997 but really like the gt silver paint on the 04. Thanks for any help.....Mike

As much as I love my 996, for 49K I would look for a 997 S

I would agree and go with a newer car. As much as I loved my 40th. $49k for a car that is 7 year old is a lot of money. I just sold my 40th with just under 70k miles for $29k.

Considering a CPO warranty, $49,990 is about average at a dealership. Private party could be ~ $6K less; Trade in ~$10K less. Nonetheless, at that price point, I would also consider a 996 Turbo or a 997 C2 as well. Good luck.

Was thinking the same as the above.....saw the car and it looked like new and I really liked the color......Maybe they will make me an offer I can't refuse? Thanks for the replies. Was origionally thinking of a newer Z06 but it just feels so large.....and when I sit in a Porsche it feels like putting on a fine pair of shoes. I'm turning 60 soon and ready to give up my miata....with 142 hp....> I won a 64 vette a few months ago and I sold it last week for $35000 plus my miata = Carrera.....woohoo

Way too much!
Just check ebay they are not selling in that range.
I love mine but if I got $45k it's gone in 60 seconds and I would make a hefty profit

I would sat $38k MAX because of the CPO but really probably a $35k car

Thanks for all the input. Will be fun searching for a car in the USA...think I will look for a Carerra S, an 05-06........makes sense....the farther the better so I can enjoy the ride home to Ontario....hopefully find something nice by spring.

Seems kind of high, even with the low mileage. I dont' think teh CPO is transferable to Canada, should call porsche canada to find out.

I think he meant he found the one in local dealer.

50k for a C2 is just way too much, even paying 6.8% duty should be still cheaper to find the car in states.

I am shopping for 996's and that seems rediculous.

Have to agree that the asking price is way too high. Will offer a low price if the salesperson calls me back.......will track down a 997S in the states....hopefully a long way away so the drive home would be a memory....

If you're still looking for one. Check out Europeancollectibles.com. They have one

Thanks....checked them out. Think I will wait for spring at this point. Offered the dealer substantially less and they are not biting at this point. Will look into other options like an older twin turbo too.
