New Porsche Owner here

Hello All,

I've been waiting for the right time to buy and today I did it. I went to the dealer and was able to talk them down a little. I ended up getting a white 2000 911 C2, 6-spd with 96K Miles for $17K. I thought this was a pretty good deal since the KBB retailed at 20.2K. I have the carfax, nothing major to note, just regular maintenance throughout the years. The cars exterior is immaculate.

There are some issues, however, that I want to end up sorting and would like suggestions if you can provide any.

1. I need a new key. The remote feature does not work, I opened to check the battery and the soldering point has fallen off where the battery terminal connects to the IC. If I solder the connection and replace the battery, maybe this will fix it but if not, I read it will cost somewhere in the range of $130 to get fixed.

2. The key, when inserted and car turned on, is a little finicky. I have to turn back the key after the car is on (like .5 CM counter clockwise) before the AC/heater works)... Has anyone had this issue before?

3. The stock radio (CD player) is a bit outdated. I would like to replace so I have a 3.5 MM jack input for my phone to connect to. Any recommendations?

4. The steering wheel seems a bit wonky and old. Is this something I can find and replace to something more aggressive?

5. Same as above but for the shifter/boot.

6. Looking for body kit to make look more aggressive.

Thanks,

Robb

For the replacement stereo I ended up buying the JVC KD-R900 which is single din with usb connection and bluetooth to connect your phone and media wirelessly. Best part is you can select the color if the lights and screen to match the orangish-yellowish interior lights of your 996. It can be found for about $145.

Radio - I would check Crutchfield, they include everything and you can find a nice bluetooth headunit for around $150.00. You can also go the double-din route and do the touchscreen nav and relocate the A/C controls, which is what I did. That'll probably set you back at least $600.00.

Steering wheel - The three spoke wheels update the car nicely. You can also have your old wheel redyed, to look almost new again. I had my seats, e-brake, and steering wheel done, and they look amazing. Only cost around $150.00.

Body kit = money! You can find them if you shop around enough. I bought half of mine on ebay and other half new. But don't forget the shop costs for installation. Starting at $2,500….

If you look up some of my old posts, you can see some of the things that I did.

Welcome to the club!
