Supercharged 2002 - high oil pressure

Hey everyone, so I recently picked up a 2002 with a VF Supercharger kit installed. So far I love it, it's been super reliable and great over. However, today I noticed the oil pressure was staying a little high - about 2 on the gauge at idle and 4.5 at 3k rpm getting higher as the revs increase. That said, it never goes over 5 really. This is all while running at 180+ on the temp gauge.

Anyone have any experience with this? I realize the supercharger will cause the engine to work harder and also temperatures are getting colder here in DC but still, I wonder. Any thoughts?

Oil pressure gauge at 2 when warm is normal in standard 996 and depending on throttle opening will get higher. So seems ok.

Those levels are about par. My N/A reads the same. How do you like the VF kit? I am thinking about getting one for my 00. It's either that or sell and save for a turbo car.

Question

^ i think you're better off selling and buying a turbo in every single circumstance. However, i'd be curious to know how it performs as well. How does it stack up to a GT3 or 996tt? I'd assume it would offer acceleration similar to a GT3, but slower than a 996tt.

What do you mean by 5+? Did you install an aftermarket gauge? Stock only goes to 5.

Your numbers sound normal though.

I would love to sell and get a turbo however getting a buyer and finding the right turbo may be a hassle. I already own the n/a and have taken the hit on the depreciation . SC would run about 7500 new and post the same #'s as a tt. The tt if I got it would run about 20k more than what I will get for mine. So for 12k less I would have the same package with a earlier boost curve.

2001 996tt's can be had for as little as $30k now a days. I'd imagine you could get at least $20k for your car, no?

My car has 57k on it with the aero kit, Custom wheels, coil overs, IMS done, painted gauges, painted center console,gt3 steering wheel, blah, blah, blah... Retail is 27500 for a stock car. I could get probably 25500-26500. The 01 turbo with like miles will be closer to 40k. I don't want a high mileage vehicle especially a turbo. So if i spend 40 I may as well spend 45 and get a clean one like mine is.

I was recently negotiating on a VF supercharged 996 which sounds similar. But they wanted a ton for it. Was the car in MA?

No the car was here in Virginia. I got a pretty solid deal (way less than I could have gotten a TT for) and all the work was done less than 1,500 miles ago. The previous owner put in a full VF kit, Fabspeed headers, x pipes and cats - then he had to sell. PPI came back clean and I couldn't be happier. From the 996TTs I have run with it easily keeps up.

Regarding the 5+ on the gauge I noticed that it didn't cycle all the way down ever and hung at about a half a bar even all the time, even when nit running. Looks like I'm good. Anyone thinking about the VF kit, I have nothing but positive remarks. I'm running the v3 supercharger which means no extra oil lines.

VF Supercharger

I am about to spring the $7500 for the VF supercharger on an otherwise stock 00 996. It is good to see that there are others considering such plans. I really don't know what to expect in terms of performance but have been told it will be a "different car". I too considered the 01 TT's but elected to go the mod route mainly due to cost and concern over hitting the buyers market again. I eagerly read your comments on how your VF equipped car performs!
