Cracked Head

Hi everyone, looking for a little advice. My 996 (98) suffered a broken valve spring a month or so ago. No other damage apart from the spring. Got a call that I had a cracked head. No obvious symptoms, intermix etc. Fast forward I finally made it down to the shop, upon inspection all I see is a small pit about 1 mm deep and maybe 1.5 wide (max) marked by the yellow line. So I decided to take the head and will gather a couple of other opinions. Reconditioned spares are essentially non existent here in Australia so would definitely like to have it repaired, whatever "it" is. Cheers, Brett.

In many cases documented online, cracks in these heads can be repaired and will be good as new.

If you have any question as to whether there is a crack or not, have the head pressure tested under heat.

If there is a crack it will show during the pressure test.

Best of luck!

There is an outfit in Costa Mesa, CA that can repair it for not too much. Do a search.

Spot on, got some1 who can repair it. Assuming there is an "it". Though the guys in Costa Mesa were helpful as a source of info. Very small (expensive) market in Aust hence there aren't a lot of people want to invest the effort into any form of R&D.
