Alcantara Wheel for my 996

I recently had Don from Dallas Custom Steering wheel in alcantara w/ a position stripe. I got around to installing it on Friday and figured i would post some pics.

Don did a very quality job and is great to deal with I would highly recommend him. I really like the feel of the alcantara compared to leather and it really provides a benefit for my sweaty palms!

Nice, that's got to feel a lot better. I've always wondered though, what is the function of the stripe at the centre of the wheel?

It is a position stripe, so you can easily tell the position of the wheels while on the race track.

Very nice! I really like the custom steering wheels I've seen (including yours), especially the alcantara. Something I might do in the future, since I've already spent the little Christmas money I have on a new front spoiler lip

That's an interesting combination you have going on there. Wood hand brake and blue Alcantara steering wheel with light grey interior.

And how hard is it to replace the wheel?

Extremely easy. Disconnect the battery, take out two torx screws behind steering wheel for the airbag (Porsche recommends to replace them which I did), pull out the air bag and disconnect the wires, mark the position of the steering wheel, loosen nut and break the wheel loose by pulling on it. Remove the nut and take off the wheel. Install in reverse order.

And how does alcantara wear as compared to leather? Does it get shiney and lose its fuzziness quickly?

I will have to keep you updated as I have only had the car out once since I put it in. I have been making some other small changes through the winter that has been keeping it off the road.
