hello all.I have a 2000 996 cab that i bought in Sept. with 27k miles.Idrive it everyday.I bought all the rubber hoses and im getting a water pump and thermostat just to b safe. Dealer sells coolant at 45$a gallon and it uses 6gal.Is it ok to use a cheaper brand or is there anything better and cheaper. They also want to charge 350$ for trany fluid.Thats f---n steep.Does anyone know?

For the coolant, go to your local VW dealer and ask for 3 gallons of G12 coolant. Same stuff that Porsche sells, but much less expensive. Then go to your grocery store and buy 3 gallons of distilled water.

For transmission fluid, I believe pelicanparts.com usually has the least expensive option, go with Porsche fluid.

Any reason why you can't just use Pentosin ?

I'm not 100% positive but I believe the Pentosin is also compatible.

You don't want to use incompatible coolants otherwise they will gel and create a terrible mess, not to mention other potentially very expensive problems.
