Will the 997 SSK fix 996 C4 2nd gear?

I've been reading a bunch about the shifting issues w the 996 and second gear slippage. I found the fix w GBox, but am wondering if I switch to the 997 SSK whether that will fix my second gear issue. Any experience and/insight is greatly appreciated.

Reading a bunch where? I've never had a shifting issue -58,000 miles. Maybe you should have the dealership adjust or repair your issue.

I think you mean the GBox 2nd gear detent. Some 996's pop out of gear in 2nd. A few on RL have put the detent in with good success. Looks like a easy DIY. The detent is performed in the transmission. The only thing a 997 shifter will do is give a tighter/smoother shifting experience. Here is the link to the GBox detent. http://www.gboxweb.com/detent.html

Thank you Pete. Yes, for confirmation, that's what I was referencing. I wasn't sure if the GBox detent would take care on the second gear popping out. It's really not that bigga deal, but is annoying. Thank God for this Forun. I honestly starting thinking I forgot how to drive a stick, or there was a tranny issue looming.

I appreciate the response.
