just did what you are asking about
I paid roughly $1400 all porsche parts
with the exception of an L & N bearing
all new bolts ,fuel filter, clutch, Ims, Rms, Aos, cam plugs, pilot bearring
doing my own wrenching saves big$

IMS Retrofit for Tiptronic
I just got a quote from 4 different shops recommended by LN engineering and the cost is between $2900 to 3800. Is this about right for a 2002 tiptronic. They said there is additional labor bec the transmission needs to be removed as well. Does this look about right?

I agree. Just had my IMS, a clutch kit, and the RMS replaced. They checked the AOS it was fine. The bearing ended up being fine BTW too. This all costed $2600 (parts, labor, and tax included). Specifically, IMS was $1700 and clutch kit $700, parts and labor included. Your numbers are high.

Just got a quote from a trusted local independent for the IMS, RMS and AOS on my 2002 manual. Using the LN ceramic bearing, the parts cost is about $1000. 8 hours labor at $150/hour is $1200.

I just spent $1300 on LN Double Row IMS, RMS, AOS, and a Sachs Clutch Kit. Parts only, no labor. I plan to do the work myself. Will spend the next few months assembling any additional tools I need and any parts I might want to replace "while I'm in there" and probably will attack this in April.

I've got my 04 C2 Cab scheduled to go in on 02/12 to Performance Motorcar Investments (PMCI) here in the Albuquerque Metro. Talked to the owner, Russ Kelso this afternoon and feel pretty comfortable! $640 for the IMS Solution, $25 for the RMS, and $560 for an OEM clutch kit if that's needed. He said it'll be about 8 hours @ $85 an hour, so worse case it'll be about $1800 unless the AOS needs to be changed.
It'll go in for a new Robbins top in March if all goes well...and the tax return shows up lol! Looking at about $3300 for that.
