Better shifting after muffler removal????

I have a 2000 carrera and everytime i shift and release the clutch the car almost always jerks unless it is exactly perfect and now i installed the muffler bypass with basicly removes the mufflers and now when i drive it, i right away notice that the shifting is way better! the car doesn't jerk at all anymore. So is it really the mufflers? and if i put the mufflers back on how can i fix it so that it shifts perfect like without the mufflers?

thats interesting ... let me ask you, when you press in the clutch, do you press it all the way to the floor? The reason being is because my experience with porsches (I owned 2) the clutch grabs high ... so there is no need to press the clutch in all the way to grab ... I press it in about half way when shifting ... and this makes for a smoother shift ... the muffler thing is interesting though .. I will be getting the Fister D mufflers installed this weekend ... I will let you know if I feel a difference in shifting as well ...
Take care

not better shifting... when you installed the bypass, you killed about 15 ft/lbs of torque if not more on the low end. This takes the "tug" away from the shifts.

It's Fister. You can buy a set or have it done at a shop near you.

Yes. Same thing I noticed immediately when I installed my muffler bypass.

It's easier get into 1st gear because you've got less torque on the low end.
But you gain it at the top.

I didn't like the sound at first but it grew on me and now I love it. But after driving the car for 2 hours the sounds is a little too much.

I'm planning 2 road trips this summer, Chicago to Florida and Chicago to Atlanta over the summer. I'm debating reinstalling stock mufflers because the sound of 8+ hours of driving is going to give me a headache.

It's sort of a hassle pulling off the bumper, heat shields...tips...ARRGHH!
