2001 996 C2 with Litronics - Facelift to 2002+ with Litronics

Hi all,

Been forever since I've been able to work on the Porsche project... what happens when you have two year old twins and doing your MBA...

Anyways, I have searched the threads on many places for this and can't seem to get a straight answer. Figure enough people have done this by now that someone should be able to help.

My car was a 2001 C2 with Litronics. They did the auto-level etc when the car was started.

I'm doing a body upgrade and in the process upgrading to 2002+ litronics I got from a wrecked Turbo.

I've included pictures of the two connections I have and the back of the plug. Others have stated this is supposed to be plug and play, in my situation I am not seeing it.

Given the pictures, has anyone encountered this exact same configuration? If so, how did you solve it. If you have pictures of the wiring you used, or a diagram with colors to wire up, that would be great. Also part numbers if needed.

I have no problem wiring this up myself once I know the confirmed procedure.

Cheers
Aaron

Based on research, it sounds like I need these two harnesses:

996-622-314-00-OEM 996 Right Headlight harness 996 2002-2004 Xenon
996-622-317-00-OEM 996 Left Headlight harness 996 2002-2004 Xenon

If that is so, that is fine, but does anyone have the wiring schematics of which color goes where, etc?

Obviously I know my next DIY article...

Cheers

Your 996.1 headlight harness will power up the 996.2 turbo headlights. I have the diagram at home I'll check it and post it here.

you don't need to spend money for rewire...you just need butt connectors, pliers, wire stripper....

You da man!

Exactly what I was looking for... did you have to buy the plugs to fit the new headlights?

I did it my way (maybe the most least expensive way) I'm not the type to follow what the book says. Need to buy this need to buy that, well if it's necessary then of course.

Basically I broke the plastic harness from the car and I stripped the wires and put a butt connectors on all of them.

Then I plugged each one to the right pin on the back of the headlights. I'll show you where everything goes.

You don't need no harness that cost $200+++ just for the wires to connect properly, if it works it works.

Cool. A color coded diagram or pictures would be awesome. I've done it this way on other cars and applications so all good. Just need to know what goes where.

If you have it, that would save studying wiring diagrams from PET.

Cheers

Would have taken you up on that, but I decided to go down the TechArt style front bumper.

Are you changing your headlight wiring/plugs by chance for the 997 upgrade? If you'd be willing to sell the plugs, I could use them to install my facelift headlights.

Cheers

Hey, since you guys have both .1 and 2. Litronics on the table side by side can you answer a question for me?

....Could it be possible to install .2 mechanism (low & high beam Litronic) inside .1 housing (low beam Litronic & high beam Halogen)? I have an Aerokitted mk1 and would like to have more light without changing the looks.
